Pinkie is walking these days. I hadn't gotten around to post/video about it, but family far away (sad!) has asked to see her latest 'trick'. My thought is: Is Pinkie's walking really a good thing- I tend to think it is making life harder... I spend a lot of time chasing her around and soothing her after a fall. Of course, I am kidding (I lover her walking and I want her to grow...blah blah blah)

Zoo Babes...
On Thursday, we went to the Oregon Zoo with our friends. Alie is 8+months preggo. She needs fun outings to keep Saree entertained. I am perfectly happy tagging along with someone as cool as Alie. Pinkie is perfectly entertained by Saree. What a perfect match...
What's the big deal about a soggy, wet diaper?

Slacker ALERT!
This was me at 4:00 AM. I shamelessly flaunted my freedom from work this past week and procrastinated doing a 12 page research paper. Boy howdy, I paid for it last night! Thank goodness we do not have cable to distract me.
I happily report my paper is finished! Unfortunately, my slacker abilities continue because I am in class RIGHT NOW updating my blog... there is no hope for a grad student like me :)

Sand in the City
Today we went to Sand in the City at Pioneer Square. Pinkie loves sand (we learned this in North Carolina) but she did not make many friends today. She kept throwing sand and trying to take other kids shovels, buckets or masterpieces. I did the whole warning thing "if you don't stop we'll have to leave because that is not nice behavior", but I question does this really work on a 14 month old? We had to leave eventually- there were tears and flailing limbs. It was a beautiful day in Portland and I am so glad we spent it outside.

Clean Dogs = Happy Mommy...
Are we the annoying neighbors with the barking dogs and messy yard?
Why yes, we are. But, our dogs are clean now. Thanks Dad

New things...
We had a really weird Sunday... it started normal. I slept in (John slept in Saturday), played, coffee, Church, out to lunch!!! Tia Cassady joined us for Church and a muy delicioso Mexican lunch. Then we went back to our house because we got a big screen tv on Saturday! I asked Cassady to help us rearrange our furniture. So we did. 1st weird thing- we got rid of John's old hide-a-bed couch from the 80's, but Goodwill would not take it!!! It is in our driveway if anyone wants a free couch :) 2nd weird thing- a strange guy showed up at our house selling paintings from his truck bed... I bought one! It is a really pretty picture of a Tuscan villa. John hates, I love! It will replace the old tv that is on top of the mantle. I am trying to come up with a 'mantle-scape' that will impress and delight. The picture is the start of my design.
Here is John in the 'man chair'. And our new big tv. The decor on the mantle will change, but I also did a book case re-vamp like Alie. For the third weird Sunday event click here.

Strawberry pickin'...
Aunti Jessica, Cousin Gavin, Mommy and Pinkie went strawberry picking. Organic strawberry picking. Gavin didn't quite grasp the organic (no chemicals) idea- he was very distraught at why grocery store berries are so much bigger than real berries. But he found 'the jack pot' in the back corner of the field and all was right again.
Stains of RED!!!
Not a wasted weekend...
Last weekend we were SOOOOO busy.
But we found time for a garden and some grass!
With me in school and him working (while Pinkie travels somewhere between) we cram in all the fun and business we can during the weekend.
We laid grass (fenced off because no soul can walk on it for 2 weeks) and planted a meek garden of corn, zucchini, squash, cucumber, watermelon (already dead), jalapeno pepper, tomato and sun flowers.
Ahhh... the water bills to come :)
