What I've been up to lately...

Tie Dye (covalent bonding)
done in my Expressive Arts Methods class
I love this class- we basically do all kinds of art projects, learn how to teach the lesson and the science/history behind it. So I made a magenta canvas bag.
The symbol is the Celtic symbol for Sisters. I was going to give it to my sister (who is in Uganda right now) but I really am attached to my bag now. This is an vintage 1950s type apron I made for my cousin Cassady's 25th birthday. It was so simple. I bought the pattern (below) from JoAnn's Fabrics and finished the whole thing in two nights. So cute! thanks Alie for interpreting the directions for me!!!
I'm trying to make time for fun stuff so I can keep my sanity (and my husband :).

Makeshift sick...

This is what our day looks like when Pinkie and Mommy are home sick.
We have a makeshift bed in the makeshift playroom with makeshift toys (the Vicks, the highlighter and real cell phone).
With grad school and student teaching I am maxed out. I was secretly grateful for a day off despite the makeup homework and sicky icky child.

How was your first day of school?

Pinkie's first day of fancy school did not go so great. We knew it wouldn't becuase she has been home with her creative, wonderful, loving, attentive mother for 15 months.
But after much worry and prayer we found a lovely in home lady to take care of our girl.
So, out with the fancy and in with the nurturing!

Oh my dear SEESTER...

not my shower :(
I shall tell you a story about a Seester and a shower...
I have a twin seester named Shanna; she lives in San Diego, is going to RN/NP school.
During our years of sharing a bathroom (2 sinks, 1 toilet, 1 shower) she was always forced to take the first shower of the morning. By forced I mean I refused to get out of bed so unless she wanted to rush through the getting ready/beautifying process she had to shower first.
You make ask: why is showering first so bad???
Reason #1: the heating didn't really work in our end of the house so it was always freezing.
Reason #2: the water took forever to heat up.
Reason #3: you had to get up earlier.
Reason #4: it meant you seester got to sleep in and she was so dang stubborn.
So on this post I send my undying love to my flexible, clean seester in San Diego.
Now in my house I am the first showerer in the wee hours of the morning. My husband is the lazy one pretending not to hear the alarm or my sleepy groans of 'you go first'. I feel your pain. I'm sorry for the lack of sleep and agony I caused you each morning.
Deep love and thanks from Seester
